Too long didn't read (TLDR)
Certified officer, separated less than 2 years. Submit the Application for Agency Transfer/Rehire — no Part 3, no additional training. Officer returns to duty once processed.
Not sure which path applies?
See the Certification Process overview for a decision guide.
Who qualifies
Both of the following must be true:
- Officer holds a valid BLEOST law enforcement certification
- Officer has been separated from law enforcement for less than 2 years as of the intended hire date
If either condition is not met, use the Re-certification path instead.
Process
- Confirm certification status — verify through Acadis that the officer's certification is current and has not lapsed
- Confirm separation date — calculate time since last date of employment in a certified capacity; must be less than 2 years
- Complete the Application for Agency Transfer/Rehire — no Part 3 required; complete with the required agency and officer information
- Submit to Standards & Training
- Officer returns to duty — no additional training required once the transfer/rehire is processed
Verify the separation date carefully
If the officer has actually been separated 2 years or more, this is the wrong form and will delay certification. When the date is close to the 2-year mark, contact Standards & Training before submitting.
