Certification Process

Step 1

Start here: The applicant needs an Acadis portal account

Before anything else, the applicant must request their own Acadis portal account. Nothing in the certification process can move forward until they have one. See Requesting a portal account for step-by-step instructions.

Step 2

Which application do I need to use?

BLEOST - Application for Law Enforcement Certification parts 1, 2 and 3

• New officers, officers certified in another state, or officers separated from law enforcement for a period greater than two years.

Application for Agency Transfer

• Certified officers that are moving to a new agency and have been out of law enforcement for less than two years.

Application for Agency Re-Hire

• Certified officers returning to their former agency after leaving law enforcement for the private sector, with no other law enforcement employment in between and less than two years out.

Application for Additional Employment

• Certified officers adding another employer to their Acadis record while keeping their current job.

Step 4

How to count separation time

Measured from the applicant's last date of employment in a certified law enforcement capacity to the date the new agency intends to hire them. When in doubt, contact Standards & Training before proceeding.

Log into your Acadis Portal Account

Complete the appropriate application for your situation.

Application for Certification

Never certified, certified in another state, or separated 2+ years. Parts 1 & 2 (applicant) + Part 3 (POC).

Certified and moving to another agency, out of law enforcement less than 2 years. Single form — no Part 3, no additional training.
